Have you ever visited a small community and wondered how it created a place that residents love? A place that attracts visitors and investment? FBP organized and led, on April 21st, a national APA Conference tour highlighting how citizens and government work together on projects, policies, and programs on Bainbridge Island, WA. A host committee of presenters showed the region’s successful example of sustainable, small town urbanism. Over 40 participants ferried out and back from the conference in Seattle, took a walking tour, enjoyed local ice cream, and heard about work on affordable housing, transportation choices, sustainable strategies, farming, and open space preservation.
