Roughly 100 agency partners collaborated to produce this regional plan using a grant administered by the City of Lakewood and funded by the US Department of Defense Office of Economic Adjustment. The year-long effort identified service and data gaps, communications issues, and economic opportunities related to a decade of the growth of the military at Joint Base Lewis McChord. The final plan provided integrated recommendations addressing regional need, costs and benefits, and implementation strategies focused on partners, and funding sources. The new South Sound Military & Communities Partnership (SSMCP) will serve to facilitate communication and guide regional investments related to health, education, land use, transportation, and economic development. *AECOM project.
