Located on the East Campus in Olympia, WA across Capitol Way from the legislative buildings, the plaza and civic park was constructed atop an existing 10-acre, below-ground parking garage. Phase 4 included the implementation of the new plaza above half of the structure, consisting of new waterproofing and drainage systems, walkways, an iconic arbor, public art, restroom, elevator towers, seating, lawn areas, and planting beds for the enjoyment of state employees and campus visitors. The Master Plan envisions a memorable shoreline experience, improves access to the water, promotes environmental stewardship, celebrates the area’s rich history and provides opportunities to learn and recreate. Enhancements will connect the shoreline, parks, downtown, historic Main Street, and neighborhoods. The City Council’s unanimous adoption follows an intensive four year planning process that engaged many spirited stakeholders. *AECOM project.
