Fischer Bouma Partnership with Generator Studio Architects of Kansas City, MO have been commissioned by The American Battle Monuments Commission in Washington DC to submit a design for a United States War Memorial in Wellington, New Zealand. The memorial will be located in National War Memorial Park which currently contains the site of the Tomb of the Unknown Warrior, the National War Memorial, the Hall of Memories and the National Carillion. The existing park is being expanded to include locations for other memorials from several other countries, including the United States.  The US War Memorial will commemorate the alliance between New Zealand and the United States and remember those who have sacrificed for the United States in pursuit of democracy. According to the Memorial Park Alliance, “The park will be completed to serve as the centrepiece for the centenary commemorations of the Gallipoli landings on ANZAC day in 2015.”
