The new master plan embraces and continues Prentice Bloedel’s commitment to conservation, sustainability and visitor experience. His adaptive management approach will be embraced with the objective of balancing visitor experience and ecological performance.

Proposed changes include:

  • Redesign of the arrival sequence and pathways to provide more diverse experiences and  Increase the length of undisturbed shoreline and the area of marginal vegetation
  • Develop longer and more gently sloping paths to provide more diverse experiences including pollinator meadow, marsh, water, pond margins and forest edge.
  • Modify the relationship of the trail to the shoreline and highlight other landscape features
  • Introduce secondary loops and spur pathways to provide for access to quieter and more contemplative places on the water’s edge
