FBP has been working with Miles Yanick & Company of Bainbridge Island and the Village Green Foundation on the design of a new community center and library in the town of Kingston, WA.  Groundbreaking for the facility occurred in May 2015 and the facility is expected to open in 2016.

FBP Organizes and Leads APA Conference Tour

Have you ever visited a small community and wondered how it created a place that residents love? A place that attracts visitors and investment? FBP organized and led, on April 21st, a national APA Conference tour highlighting how citizens and government work together on projects, policies, and programs on Bainbridge Island, WA. A host committee of presenters showed the region’s successful example of sustainable, small town urbanism. Over 40 participants ferried out and back from the conference in Seattle, took a walking tour, enjoyed local ice cream, and heard about work on affordable housing, transportation choices, sustainable strategies, farming, and open space preservation.

Fischer Bouma Partnership with Generator Studio Architects Selected to Submit Design for War Memorial   FBP-Press-Release-Image-9-12-2014web

Fischer Bouma Partnership with Generator Studio Architects of Kansas City, MO have been commissioned by The American Battle Monuments Commission in Washington DC to submit a design for a United States War Memorial in Wellington, New Zealand. The memorial will be located in National War Memorial Park which currently contains the site of the Tomb of the Unknown Warrior, the National War Memorial, the Hall of Memories and the National Carillion. The existing park is being expanded to include locations for other memorials from several other countries, including the United States.  The US War Memorial will commemorate the alliance between New Zealand and the United States and remember those who have sacrificed for the United States in pursuit of democracy. According to the Memorial Park Alliance, “The park will be completed to serve as the centrepiece for the centenary commemorations of the Gallipoli landings on ANZAC day in 2015.”

This proposed development includes a mix of residential, restaurant and recreational uses. The Clear Creek Trail connects the development to Kitsap County’s expansive trail and open space system. Enhancements to the beach and park include removal of bulkhead and beach restoration, waterfront pathway construction, restoration of beach, and planting of extensive wetland buffer. The landscape plan includes a highly detailed walled courtyard with a strong central pedestrian axis that terminates in distant view of Puget Sound. Referencing formal European gardens, the landscape includes a walled courtyard and a formal pedestrian allee’.

FBP recently hired landscape designer Jeff Peterson of Poulsbo, WA.  Jeff received his Masters of Landscape Architecture from the University of Minnesota and specializes in construction detailing, plants, and graphics.
